Hold Onto Summer
03:24
|
|||
Climb the tree
Ring the bell
Hold on for summer the carnival bringer
Plough the field
Dig the well
Hold onto summer the perennial forgiver
Vault the vale
Beat the drum
Run onto summer the bountiful beginner
You bring the breeze under parasol
To my waking from a fevered brow
And my solar sister I wish you well
May we dance now?
Climb the hill
Drink the view
Hold out for summer a farewell to winter
Feed the fox
Sing the tune
Look out for summer the festival beginner
Tend the flock
Pick the corn
Run onto summer the bountiful bringer
Jump the hedge
Mind the swarm
Longing for summer the perennial forgiver
And when the frozen ground yields up it’s poppy seed
I’ll turn around to see this winter carcass that I leave
Oh, cos I love the these days
A souvenir
Picking all the roses in your garden
Feeling every movement
The heady perfume of your bed
A thorn for your thoughts
And a petal for your actions
Caught by every glance you gave me lips of cherry red.
Climb the tree
Ring the bell
Hold on for summer the carnival beginner
Plough the field
Dig the well
Hold onto summer the perennial forgiver
Vault the vale
Sweep the leaves
Run onto summer the bountiful beginner
Ooh the winter’s over
Look out for summer the perennial forgiver
Hold onto summer the bountiful bringer
Jump the gate
Ring the bell
Longing for summer a farewell to winter

The Rogue's Return
05:21
|
|||
Nobody ever would know when you would come, when you would go
Leaving your trail of dismay out in the rain across the snow
But when you came back all would sit up reading the room
Careful to not speak out, to put a foot wrong or sing out of tune
By the buckle of you belt you put the fear in the kids
And you spoke to me like I was a no body
There were times when I would wish not to wake and the dog would hide under the stairs
And the rogue has returned once again
With the cloak and dagger measure of men
We’re much older but not that much wiser
You taught us how to become the despiser
And the rogue has returned
Time moved swiftly along
Things got so bad but then you were gone again
An uneasy tranquility fell on the house, the children and me
Please don’t have daddy back uttered these words the children sagely
But then you came reeking of beer to the front door claiming to be
King of castle and all you surveyed
Demanding to be reinstated
Threatening everything that I held dear
Pushing me to the limit
And the rogue has returned once again
With the cloak and dagger measure of men
We’re so much older and oh so much wiser
We discovered how to become the survivor
Become the survivor
And the rogue has returned
Why did you hurt her so?
Why did you hurt her so?
And so what have all of these years left in my heart would you but know?
Penury fear and disease took me so young the kids left to grow
Death is just but a veil and I do view you all through it’s gauze
But my earthly husband you brought me such pain with blessed small cause
My children you’re older but not that much wiser
Confuse love with the fires of desire
Betrothed to another who would tear you a part
History repeating itself
And the rogue has returned once again
With the cloak and dagger measure of men
So much older but not so much wiser
I hope given time you will be a survivor
Domestic survivor
And the rogue has returned
And the rogue has returned

Back Down The Lane
03:30
|
|||
Back down the
Back down the lane
Back down the
Back down the lane
Take me back down the lane walking along the shore
Fare from all the cities don’t need them any more
Where we larked under sun over fields where we’d run
Take me where I’ll find a land of love in your open eyes
Where we can come alive drying naked in the sun
Hand in hand our legs entwined
Pushing down the frozen
Holding back the bleak
When your soles go clicking on a road bestowed to sheep
Where did I find this harmony?
My soul’s out of prison
Sweeter than any rose that's ever risen
So it’s my resolution to feed my constitution
Then I will rise and take you
Back down the
Back down the lane
Back down the
Back down the lane
Take me back down the lane walk along the shore
Fare from all the cities don’t need them any more
Where we larked under sun over fields where we’d run
Take me where I’ll find a land of love in your open eyes
Where we can come alive drying naked in the sun
Hand in hand our legs entwined
Pushing down the frozen
Holding back the bleak
When your soles go clicking on a road bestowed to sheep
Where did I find this harmony?
My soul’s out of prison
Sweeter than any rose that's ever risen
So it’s my resolution to feed my constitution
Then I will rise and make you new
Sooth you on and on for ever and ever
Lead me back down the lane
Walk me back to the field of heather
Bring me back down the lane
Oh take me by the golden river
Take me back down
Back down the lane
Take me back down
Back down the lane
Take me back down
Back down the lane

The Power of Denial
03:04
|
|||
Born and raised in a small town
I left way before it could drag me down
Following my dream to the capital
My teachers told me I was delusional
Maybe you should settle down
People talking in the town
Maybe you’re just falling in style
Maybe you’re delusional
Chasing every curtain call
Never underestimate the power of denial
Took every turn on the road map
Went every way and then doubled back
Following my tail down a dead end
I busted it all and then started again
It’s never what you think it’ll be
When you get there you will surely see
Everyone’s just falling with style
Dancing to a different tune
Chasing after their fortune
Never underestimate the power of denial
The power of denial
Bedmates with error and trial
Power of denial
A bed made with error and trial
Born and raised in a small town
I left way before it could drag me down
I became neighbors with Big Ben
I turned right around and then started again
Maybe I should settle down
People talking in this town
Maybe I’m just falling with style
Tell me I’m delusional
Chasing every curtain call
Never underestimate the power of denial

Lost & Found
03:32
|
|||
Moon light
Be my eyes tonight
On this night flight
Guide me wings right
Stillness of the air makes me breathless
By star light
Follow me if you are of the mind
Move without a sound
Air like eiderdown
The whispering ether will bare us in it’s arms
In nocturnal gown we are lost and found
We are lost and found
Within the core of everything
You will find a system
Leading us back unto the beginning
Until we get it right
Moon light
Be my eyes tonight
On this night flight
Guide me wings right
Stillness of the air makes me breathless
So I’ll gather up the stars for your necklace
But I can’t find your house in the dead of night
Cos your loving used to be my guiding light
Now I’m lost
We are lost and found
Follow me if you are of the mind
Move without a sound
Air like eiderdown
The whispering ether will bare us in it’s arms
In nocturnal gown we are lost and found
We are lost and found

Home Spun Help
03:08
|
|||
I’m rattling a stick in a bucket
Waiting to see what comes along
I rattled all the way from Nantucket
Stayed a while but not too long
I know I can’t make you love me
I’ve got my demons just like anyone else
But there’s a passion burning deep inside me
Maybe I could use some homespun help
I’m skimming these stones cross the river
See if I can reach the other side
Maybe in time I learn to forgive her
I’m not too proud to swallow my pride
I don’t want to think about it
Makes me a shadow of my former self
There’s a torrent that I hold inside me
Maybe I could use some homespun help
Home
Spun
Help
Home
Spun
Help
Homespun help
I’m kicking my can down the road
No sense of direction I’m going in
I’ve got freedom overload
Crickets cricking and I’m dancing
So I’m just gonna kiss the sunset
Don’t need too much from anybody else
I rest my head beneath a star light blanket
Shut out the noise so I can hear my self
I don’t want to make you love me
I’ve got my problems just like anyone else
But there’s a furnace burning deep inside me
Maybe you could use some fire yourself

If I Could Write A Song
03:50
|
|||
What you gonna do today my brother
I’m gonna put one foot in front of the other
So tell me what’s that heavy load you’re carrying
Something that you may have picked up just caring
In every single heart break that happened to some one
Events just too unimaginable start to run
Would life have found a reason could healing be unfurled
If I could write a song to change the world
Tell me where you’re gonna go my sister
Drifting on the autumn breeze like a whisper
Tell me is there some one you are looking for
You never stop searching door to door to door to door
Would it break the course of nature?
Leaving havoc to forsake
Is it better just to sleep and not to wake?
Would life have lost it’s meaning
If the torrent ceased to whirl
And I could write a song to change the world
If I could write a song to change the world
Sing it right and heal your soul
If I could write a song to change the world
Sing it right and heal your soul
Heal your soul
Heal your soul
Whichever way you want to go and cut the cake
Everybody has to know a little heart break
Woven into everyday like a tapestry
The fibers of existence
The treads of what will be
Would life be worth the living?
If there was no more pain
And every hungry child was loved the same
Would things be any clearer?
Like reflections in a pearl
If I could write a song to change the world
If I could write a song to change the world
If I could write a song

My Old Friend Peter
03:02
|
|||
My old friend Peter lives by himself
He wears a cravat and is the picture of health
He bids me a welcome whenever I’m around
For coffee and tea cakes with me and my hound
His garden is lovely He tends to it all
He has quite a green house surrounded by walls
He misses his wife since she passed away
And I think of them often in sunnier days
And so I’ll visit him quite frequently
Because he’s the good guy that I’d like to be
I wish he was my father though I’ll try not to show
Because he already had children and watched them all grow
My old friend Peter’s not run of the mill
He used to play hockey now he walks up the hill
Our conversations make intricate turns
In front of the fireplace with logs that he burns
Some times we drink beer
We talk about all kinds of things
It’s great
My good friend Peter
I wish there were more to be found in this world just like him
He makes me feel so healthy like I’ve been to the gym
I don’t like the notion of him not being here
So I’ll stick to the safe path because he is so dear
My old friend Peter
My dear old friend Peter

Where have you been?
I thought I was free of you
Like the scene from a film
Dragging me back there
Sometimes it’s too much
Well actually it’s all the time
Too frail to touch
The ridiculous to sublime
You came into my mind again
Like you have done many times before
I can see you standing in that dress
Greeting me every time I came to your door
We were so young then
I should’ve known better
Lost in the moment
But you wouldn’t let yourself fall
I was the weak one
You were much stronger
Principled angel
And you wouldn't let yourself fall
The sharing of time
Knowing we shouldn’t
Hearts on the line
Silences filled with
Knowing it will end
Not wanting it to ever
Missing you my friend
Not wanting to leave you
I’m taking back these frequencies
Jammed up with broadcasts and such
Because I have this tendency
To think about you way too much
We were so young then
I should’ve known better
Lost in the moment
But you wouldn’t let yourself fall
I was the weak one
You were much stronger
Principled angel
And you wouldn't let yourself fall

Make You Happy
02:40
|
|||
I will try just to be that guy
Who will never ever make you wanna cry
But I just might make you happy
So it goes fortune’s before your nose
I’m all you need to make your garden grow
And I just might make you happy
You’ve been living in the dark ages now
And I understand just what it feels like
Locked up inside those emotional cages
High noon can feel like the dead of night
Walk with me
We can talk about it
Talk with me
We can walk about it
Come join me on the first rung of the ladder
Maybe in time things will look better
So it goes fortune’s before your nose
I’m all you need to make your garden grow
And I just might make you happy
I’ve been there
I can relate
Your tentative timid state of spirit
There’s so much to live for in life
If you can just bare to be in it
Bear to be in it
Bear to be in it
I will try just to be that guy
Who will never ever make you wanna cry
But I just might make you happy
